The Lessons tool allows Instructors to embed a YouTube video on a Lessons page without the need to copy the source code.
Tip: Content linked or embedded from the internet (rather than files that are uploaded) does not consume storage space in the Resources tool, which has a 1GB quota per Sakai site.
First, locate and copy the YouTube video URL.
- Select the Share button below the clip.
- Copy the YouTube URL onto the clipboard by selecting Copy to the right of the link (or by using CTRL+C for PC or CMND+C for Mac).
Go to Lessons.
If you titled your page something other than Lessons, select the title of the page as it appears in your Tool Menu.
Select Embed Content.
Under Simple Content Items, select Embed Content on the Page.
Select Add new URL and paste the URL.
- Select Add new URL (web link).
- Paste the copied YouTube URL into the text field.
- Select Save.
Make edits to embedded video settings. (Optional)
Hover your cursor over the video thumbnail to reveal the item options. Select the pencil (Edit Youtube Item) icon in the upper-right.
Add a description and/or adjust the video pixel size.
- Enter the desired Width and Height for your video in number of pixels. (Optional)
- Enter a description in the Item Description text field. (Optional)
- Then, select Update item to save any changes.
