How do students submit a video assignment?

The Video Assignment type requires a video submission recorded in the Sakai assignment.  

Reminder: Students will need a microphone and webcam in order to complete a video assignment.

Go to Assignments.

Assignments button in Tool Menu

Select the Assignments tool from the site Tool Menu.

Select the assignment title.

Select the title of an assignment to begin creating your submission.

The following information will be displayed for each assignment.

  1. Assignment Title is the name of the assignment
  2. Status refers to the your submission status regarding the assignment (i.e., Not Started, Assignment submission required, Returned, etc.)
  3. Open Date is when the assignment becomes available to students
  4. Due Date is the deadline to submit the assignment
  5. Last Modified refers to the account name of the instructor or site manager that last made a change to the assignment
  6. Modified Date refers to the date and time when the assignment was last changed

If your instructor has included a link to the assignment in the Lessons tool, you can also access it from this location within the course content.

Agree to Honor Pledge.

Honor Pledge

Your instructor may configure an assignment to include an Honor Pledge where you must indicate your pledge by selecting the Agree button in order to proceed with submitting the assignment.

Review video recorder instructions.

Use the video recorder to make your assignment submission. Press 'Start Recording' and please do not forget to stop the recording pressing 'Stop Recording'. If you press 'Start Recording' again the existing recording will be lost. This recorder will not record more than 2:30 minutes for performance reasons.

Review assignment instructions and requirements.

The following information will be displayed for each assignment.

  7. Instructions provide instructor written requirements and/or recommendations for completing the assignment.
  8. Additional resources include any instructor provided attachments (such as an assignment sheet or project guide) for completing the assignment

Submit video recording.

Allow browser to use microphone dialog

To record a video submission,

  1. Select the button Start Recording.
  2. Allow your browser to use your microphone.

Note: You will need a webcam in order to record your video submission.

The webcam will begin and record the video submission. Use the Stop Recording button when finished recording.  

Proceed to save video recording

Select the Proceed button to save video recording.

Review submission.

The Submission Confirmation page will appear, along with a preview of the timestamped video recording.

Submit assignment.

Select the Submit button to complete the assignment.

Warning: If you do not complete the submission workflow by selecting Submit, your recording will not be visible by the instructor and your submission will be incomplete.
