How do I edit a rubric?

Change the titles, descriptions, or grading information associated with a rubric. You cannot edit a rubric's grading information once the rubric has been associated with an assignment or other gradable course component.

Scoring information in locked rubrics cannot be edited.

Locked Rubric

The lock icon (rubric is locked) indicates that the rubric is associated with a live activity in the site and cannot be edited. If you need to edit a locked rubric, you detach it from the activity where it is being used, or make a copy of the rubric and edit the copy.

Go to Rubrics.

Select Rubric

Select the Rubrics tool from the tool menu of your site.

Edit the rubric title.

Select Modify rubric

Click the edit icon (Edit Rubric) associated with a rubric.

Enter rubric title
  1. Update the Rubric Title field.
  2. Click Save.

Edit criteria titles, descriptions, and points.

Note: You cannot edit a rubric's grading information once the rubric has been associated with an assignment or other gradable course component.

Click on rubric name

Click on a rubric that you wish to edit.

Edit Rubric
  1. Click Edit Criterion to update the criterion title, description, or points.
  2. Click Edit Rating to update a rating title, description, or points.
Edit rating options
  1. Optionally edit the Rating Title.
  2. Optionally edit the Points.
  3. Optionally edit the Rating Description.
  4. Click Save.

Reorder the criteria or ratings.

Note: You cannot edit a rubric's grading information once the rubric has been associated with an assignment or other gradable course component.

Select rubric

Click on a rubric that you wish to edit.

Select reorder options
  1. Click the criterion's Drag to Reorder icon and then drag it up or down.
  2. Click a rating's icon Drag to Reorder and then drag it to the left or right. You may also need to update the points in ratings that you have reordered.

Delete criteria.

Note: You cannot edit a rubric's grading information once the rubric has been associated with an assignment or other gradable course component.

Select Rubric

Click on a rubric that you wish to edit.

Select X

Click Remove Content.

Select Remove

Click Remove to confirm.

Delete a rating.

Note: You cannot edit a rubric's grading information once the rubric has been associated with an assignment or other gradable course component.

Select  rubric

Click on a rubric that you wish to edit.

Edit rating

Click Edit Rating.

Select Remove

Click Remove.
