What is the Preferences tool?

Use Preferences to set configure how often you receive email notifications of site activity, to set your time zone, and to select your language.

Go to Preferences.

While viewing your Home site, select Preferences.

Configuring your Notifications preferences

Click Notifications.

Select notification preferences.

  1. Click the title of a tool for which you wish to edit notifications preferences. Options will drop down from the tool that you've selected.
  2. Choose notifications preferences based on the options available for the tool.
  3. Click Update Preferences.

Note: Notifications settings only apply to low priority items. High priority items, as determined by the instructor or site owner that sends the notification, will still be sent via email regardless of your settings.

Configuring your Time Zone

Click Time Zone.

Choose your time zone.

  1. Select your local time zone from the list.
  2. Click Update Preferences.

Configuring your system language

Use the Language area to configure the language that will display to you throughout the system.

Click Language.

Select a language and click Update Preferences.

  1. Select your preferred language from the list.
  2. Click Update Preferences.

Configuring the Rich Text Editor toolbar

Click Editor.

Use the Editor area to set the preferred feature-richness of the Rich Text Editor throughout the system.

Choose Default Rich Text Editor toolbar layout, then click Update Preferences.

  1. Select a toolbar layout:
    • Auto detected based on browser size: the Rich Text Editor toolbar loads with a simplified layout, but provides an option to expand it for additional features.
    • Force basic/mobile mode: the Rich Text Editor toolbar loads with a simplified layout and you cannot expand it for additional features.
    • Force full/desktop mode: the Rich Text Editor toolbar loads fully expanded to display additional features.

Toggling Light and Dark Theme

Use the Theme area to select your preferred site theme, i.e. Light and Dark mode. See What is Dark Mode? for complete instructions.
