Updated on

If you are using the default share settings in Panopto, students will need to authenticate their account for your course before accessing a recording in the Lessons tool. Please see How do I authenticate my Panopto account for a Sakai site? for instructions.

First, locate and copy the Panopto video URL.

  1. Hover your cursor over the recording and select the Share icon.
  2. The Link tab will be selected by default.
  3. Copy the URL code into the clipboard (CTRL+C for PC or CMD+C for Mac).

Go to Lessons.

Select the Lessons Page Title (e.g. Lessons) in the Tool Menu to display the page.

Note: The default or blank Lessons page contains text and images that explain the basic functionality of the Lessons tool.

From the Add Content drop-down menu, select Add Content Links. This displays the Add Item dialog box.

Enter an item name and paste the URL.

  1. Paste the URL in the Or add a URL text box.
  2. Enter a name in the Custom Name to display for URL box.
  3. Paste the URL in the Or add a URL text box.
  4. Select Save.

View content on the page.

Select Edit. (Optional)

This displays the Edit Item dialog box.

Add a description and change item settings.

Enter a title in the Item Name text box and description in the Item Description text box. Update desired settings. Then, select Update Item to save your changes and return the display to the Lesson Page with the linked video and description.

View updated video on page.
