How do I take a test or quiz in Respondus LockDown Browser?
When you attempt to take a LockDown Browser required assessment from a standard browser (i.e. Chrome, Firefox, or Safari), you will be directed to install it on your device. If you have already installed LockDown Browser, the following guide will walk through the steps to use it.
Note: If you have not installed Respondus LockDown Browser for Loyola's Sakai instance, please refer to the section How do I download and install Respondus LockDown Browser?
Save Work and Close All Programs.
It is important to save your work and close all programs, as Respondus LockDown Browser requires all other applications to be closed. It will force close all programs on launch and unsaved work will be lost.
Locate and Launch LockDown Browser.
Locate the LockDown Browser software on your Desktop, by searching for it in Explorer (Windows), or by searching for it in Launchpad (Mac). Double-click the software icon to launch it.
Allow App to Make Changes.
If prompted, select Yes to allow the LockDown Browser application to make changes to your device.
Select Close Process.
If LockDown Browser detects any programs or background processes still running, select Close Process for each program or background process.
Note: If you have not saved work in another program, select Exit LockDown Browser to exit the browser and save your work.
Log in to Sakai.
Enter your UVID and password in the respective fields and select Log In.
Take the Test or Quiz.
You may access and take the test or quiz as you would within a regular web browser. For instructions on this, please see How do I submit an assessment (i.e. test or quiz)?
