How Do I Enable Respondus LockDown Browser for an Assessment?

Enabling Respondus LockDown Browser on a test requires modifying the settings of that test. The settings for an assessment are complex and include many options besides LockDown Browser. Only the settings required for LockDown Browser are addressed in this resource.

Access the Tests & Quizzes Tool.

In the target Sakai course, select the Tests & Quizzes tool from the Tool Menu.

Edit the Test Settings.

Select Working Copies.

From within the Tests & Quizzes tool select Working Copies tab.

Select Settings.

Choose Settings from the Select Action drop-down menu for the desired assessment .

Though you can edit a published copy of an assessment, this is not recommended because modifying settings for a test in progress may cause the loss of student data.

Select Settings for Availability and Submissions.

The LockDown Browser settings are located in the Settings section Availability and Submissions. Select the bar to expand Availability and Submissions.

Within the Availability and Submissions settings, expand the option Ensure students take exams from specific location.

Require Locked Browser.

Within the Ensure students take exams from specific location sub-section, there is a heading Require Locked Browser. Select the radio button next to the option Respondus LockDown Browser.

The Exit password (optional) is intended for use in face-to-face proctoring environments that are not applicable to online testing.

Save Settings and Publish the Assessment.

Select Save Settings and Publish to publish the assessment, making the test available to students.

When modifying the settings of an assessment in the Published Copies tab, only the Save and Cancel buttons will appear.
