How do I obtain the URL for a file or folder in Resources?

Updated on

Each file and folder in Resources has its own URL. For example, instructors can create links to folders or files anywhere that the Rich Text Editor appears throughout the site.

Go to Resources.

Resources Button

Select the Resources tool from the site Tool Menu.

Select Actions, and then select Edit Details.

Select edit details

From the Actions drop-down menu, select Edit Details.

The Edit Details page for the item will be displayed.

Copy the URL or Short URL.

Copy URL to clipboard

Scroll down the page to find the Folder Details section. Copy the item URL displayed in the Web Address (URL) field by selecting the link Copy URL to clipboard.

An alternative is to select the Short URL check box to copy a shortened URL.

NOTE: Once the item URL is copied, do not move the file into another folder in Resources. Changing the file location will break the URL and no longer be functional.
