How do I take attendance?

Updated on

There are two ways to take attendance: you can take attendance using an existing attendance item, or use the Take Attendance Now button to create a new item.

Go to Attendance.

Select the Attendance tool from the site Tool Menu.

Take attendance for an existing item.

Select an Attendance Item.

Select an existing attendance item from the Take Attendance page. The attendance table with a list of your students will open.

Review and assign Attendance statuses.

For each student, you have the option of selecting one of the following statuses: Present, Absent, Excused, Late or Left Early. Status options can be modified from the Attendance tool Settings tab.

Mark all students with the same status.

To mark all students with the same status, select the Mark displayed students as dropdown menu and select a status.

Adjust student statuses.

You can adjust individual student statuses by selecting the appropriate tile next to their name.

Once you have selected a status for a student, the attendance record will save automatically. If you have made individual adjustments to student records, you will need to reload the page to see the data update in the Attendance Item Statistics chart at the top of the page.

Take attendance using the Take Attendance Now button.

Select Take Attendance Now.

From the Attendance page, select the Take Attendance Now button.

An Attendance item with the current date and time will be automatically created.

Take attendance by selecting the appropriate tile corresponding to the attendance status for each student.

Once you have selected a status for a student, the attendance record will save automatically. If you have made individual adjustments to student records, you will need to refresh the statistics using the Refresh icon.
